Appellate decisions

  • Hugelman v. Town of Mammoth Lakes (2025): the Court of Appeal ruled that a jury should decide whether the Town unlawfully eliminated Hugelman's job because of his age or injury, finding there was enough evidence to question the Town's stated reasons.
  • Rivera v. FSC Corporation (2024): the Court of Appeal ruled that the trial judge should not have thrown out Rivera's harassment and emotional distress claims because a jury could reasonably decide in his favor.

Trial Advocacy

Ms. Crippen handles civil litigation from written discovery through dispositive motions, depositions, witness preparation, contested hearings and court conferences, mediation, arbitration, and trial support. Her early courtroom work also included substantive participation in jury trials as a Certified Law Student. She prepares matters on a trial-ready footing so that bargaining position reflects both evidentiary vulnerabilities and appellate posture.

In employment matters, Ms. Crippen works wrongful termination, discrimination, retaliation, harassment, disability and leave accommodation, wage-and-hour, and related claims—through briefing, discovery, substantive motion practice and hearings—in collaboration with Workplace Rights Advocates' trial teams where cases move toward mediation, arbitration, or trial for California workers.
